about

Every song on the EP either tells of a time & place or sends a message. They are also outlets for me to re-reflect on past experiences, mistakes, and lessons learned. Hopefully, you, the listener, can get something from this too.

I want to thank Debra Sawyer and the committee at the Three Oaks A&E Center for choosing me as part of their Local Musician Development Fund (LMDF). None of this would've been possible without all of you.

Track Name: Solid Doubt
Are you awake
In another man's arms?
Under someone else's charm?
How are your dreams?
That fantasy
Excluding me

Are there better vibes
That he gives off
For you to snuff and get by?
How are the lies
Whispered in your ear?
Taking away your fears

[Chorus 1]
And I don't want to cry
That you've gained better than I
At least you flung your fist out
At my mouth and shattered my solid doubt

Devastating you
I should've assumed
Apologies were never enough
At the verge
Of becoming worse
Thank god you stopped

[Chorus 1]
And I don't want to cry
That you'ved gained better than I
At least you flung your fist out
At my mouth and shattered my solid doubt

Hands going cold
As I wrapped my fingers
Around yours
Diverted eyes
There was something better
You had in sight

[Chorus 2]
And I can't even read the
Pages on your book
The letters foreign and the ink rubbed out
Who'd take a look?
No, I don't want to cry
That you've gained better than I
At least you flung your fist out
At my mouth and shattered my solid doubt
Track Name: I Don't Want To Sleep Tonight
I don't want to sleep tonight
It's four o'clock in the morning
I don't want to sleep tonight
I'm just not up to conforming
I don't want to hit the lights
I don't want to lie down crying
I don't want to sleep tonight
And dream of these false silver linings

I don't want to close my eyes
Where monsters might be lurking
I don't want to say goodbye
Or these bridges might start burning
I don't want to tell a lie
Though the truth can just be as degrading
I don't want to satisfy
These sour thoughts that keep on swimming

[Chorus 1]
But don't give pity for my troubles
'Cause that's what songwriting is for
The doom and gloom is temporary
When positivity leads it out the back door

I don't want my alibis
Reminding me of broken fences
I don't want my alibis
Making me feel so pretentious
And make me undermine
The troubles that await me still
In the presence of my biggest vice
Tempting me to lose grip of my will

[Chorus 2]
But don't give pity for my troubles
'Cause that's what songwriting is for
The doom and gloom is temporary
When positivity leads it out the back door
And it's not that people don't deserve some love and care
But we all have the power to move on
You can choose to put a front
But I'll decide when the negatives will be gone

I don't want to sleep tonight
My imagination's running water
I don't want to sleep tonight
And turn my focus into fodder
I already recognize
The obstacles in my path
I just need some peace of mind
No matter how long that may last
Track Name: Goliath
Facing the giant
Knowing how to take it down
It looks so easy
Stone in sling
But I can't seem to conquer the beast
My flaws are what it feeds
Oh, how he reigns
Down on my disgrace, readying my grave
How much more can I take?

[Chorus 1]
I've written words to inspire
Or music to spark one's fire
But sometimes, I feel like the same boy
Who needs a mother's love

[Bridge]
Maybe I was never good enough
Maybe it just doesn't take much
To bring me down
Bring me down
Maybe I was never good enough
Maybe it just doesn't take much
To bring me down
Bring me down

My father said
Only I can take on the giant
I guess he's right

[Chorus 2]
I've written words to inspire
Or music to spark one's fire
But sometimes, I feel like the same boy
Who needs a mother's love
Writing letters together to sound wiser
But I guess my biggest desire
Is to find myself in the deepest of caves
Where no one else should go
Track Name: Thank You, My Beautiful Friend
I never thought I've give my high school days a second glance
But my mind's wandered back to the day when we first danced
You let me be your date to prom, even when I was being wrong
For thinking that you'd give my love a chance

Never thought I'd still feel giddy to remember you sing
As I back you on guitar, you made my spirit sprout wings
And during our times in choir, I know I'm not a liar
When I say that your voice sounds like the morning birds in Spring

[Chorus 1]
And even if those times are long, long gone
Those memories still linger in my mind
I long to wait for you to come back to me
So we can sing and dance and form new memories

You were such a pretty sight, oh how you gave off peaceful vibes
Though we haven't spoken much since we danced that night
I never had a stronger urge to write such silly strings of words
But when I think of you, I hope that everything's all right

[Chorus 2]
And even if those times are long, long gone
Those memories still linger in my mind
I long to wait for you to come back to me
So we can sing and dance and form new memories
A couple years can turn into a couple centuries
But I'm still/so thankful for the little things you helped me to achieve
And even if we don't see each other again
Thank you, my beautiful friend

It's 4am right now, I'm reminiscing of the past
It sucks how such blissful moments like these don't really last
I wish I had more time to get to know you better
Though I'm writing how I think about you down in this letter

Thank you, my beautiful friend
Thank you, my beautiful friend
Thank you, my beautiful friend
Thank you, my beautiful friend
Track Name: Please Listen
I can't pursue you
You've got to take the reigns yourself
I won't pursue you
I'll be sitting right back on the shelf
But please consider
That walking down that path won't get you help
And please remember
You can overcome what's turning you to someone else

Just like your ex-girlfriend
Or every model on T.V.
*It'll never go away
If you keep on lending offerings
I'm just a bunch of words
That tell some not-so-subtle truths
But then the choice was yours
So now the joke's on you

[Chorus]
Facing your back, behind cellar doors
Please listen to these last words I say
Covering your ears, trapped in the corner
Please listen before it's too late

The friends that left you
Could come back if you made the call
I know it's been a while
Since you last intake of adderall
You leave an anchor
To give you pain to numb the blame
& keep your head geared sideways
As you face NO! shame NO! shame NO! shame NO!

[Chorus]
Facing your back, behind cellar doors
Please listen to these last words I say
Covering your ears, trapped in the corner
Please listen before it's too late

[Chorus]
Facing your back, behind cellar doors
Please listen to these last words I say
Covering your ears, trapped in the corner
Please listen before it's too late
