about

Each song on this EP is inspired by noticeably different things. As a result, each song has its own sound that sets it apart from the other. However, they're placed in a cohesive order that makes the listening experience distance itself from sounding like a "various artist" soundtrack.

Track Name: DSBIY
I got lost on the trails I’ve paved
Stuck in a puzzle that I’ve helped to create
Colors start to fray
Fixated on my shadow on this cool, sunny day
I’m unsure of the state of my well-being
Butterflies don’t always flutter when I’m singing
Seems to do less about the passion in art
I look at the things so differently than when I left the start

So lead me back to what my journey’s all about
And teach me how to let the substance escape my mouth
All my priorities are focused on how to get it done
And down and over with

I am a cynical adult at a musical
Appreciating their expression but never my own
I feel the saturation of the music numb my bones
It’s time to take a step back and lock myself alone

So lead me back to what my journey’s all about
And teach me how to let the substance escape my mouth
All my priorities are focused on how to get it done
And down and over with

Don’t stop believing in you
You know what you need to do
Don’t stop believing in you
I believe you know the truth

So lead me back to what my journey’s all about
And teach me how to let the substance escape my mouth
All my priorities are focused on how to get it done
And down and over with
Track Name: So-Called Pessimist
I stand by Stanley Kubrick and his take on our short lives
Where we self-define our mortal purposes while time passes us by
Who needs the nihilism or the statues made of stone
I don’t need to look to things to reaffirm that I am not alone

Let’s be realistic, I know many of you are
I usually let people be, but some take things too far
Before you look at what the stars above you have to say
Just know they’re fairy tales that aren’t here to stay

I am a virgo and an asshole, according to my ex
But thin excuses and zodiac signs are reasons I get vexed
Those constellations can be fun and games until you realize
That people use to completely define their whole lives

Let’s be realistic, I know many of you are
I usually let people be, but some take things too far
Before you look at what the stars above you have to say
Just know they’re fairy tales that aren’t here to stay

I stand by the so-called pessimists and skeptics when it comes to
Horoscopes and palm readings, plus other forms of pseudoscience
There are no miracles if you bullet points are not empirical
And contradicts the years and years of scientific research

Let’s be realistic, I know many of you are
I usually let people be, but some take things too far
Before you look at what the stars above you have to say
Just know they’re fairy tales that aren’t here to stay
Track Name: Windy City
A drive to Chicago is all it took for me to fall under your accidental spell
A drive to Chicago is all it took for my weary soul to overflow with joy
I couldn’t help but stare as you graced the Metro with your full-piece band
And I know you’re with someone else, but I long to take you by your hand

And no other person has moved me since before
And others music hasn’t moved me quite like yours

But it was never your intention

One drive to the city and back, I wish I had so much more to say
Like the way your silk hair flows to compliment your elegant face
One drive to the city and back, I wish I had more confidence when we talked
But ever since I met you in person,
I should’ve known better than to go out of my league

And no other person has moved me since before
And others music hasn’t moved me quite like yours

But it was never your intention

And no other person has moved me since before
And others music hasn’t moved me quite like yours
And no other person has moved me since before
And others music hasn’t moved me quite like yours

But it was never your intention
Track Name: Wait
Are all the loved ones in my head?
Am I beloved, or do I need meds?
I hate these limitations all around me
I’d rather set up my own boundaries

I cannot help being so paranoid
I find it helpful to, y’know, just avoid
Please put me down upon my knees
I want to feel again what it’s like to be free

I don’t wanna wait
I don’t wanna wait to fix myself

I want to be the fool who makes you laugh
But you’ll take things the wrong way, and I don’t want that
I want to be the man who makes you smile
But you only know me to be so senile

My friends all live on other planets
I’m stuck on a highway with loose chunks of granite
Going over empty bottles and cigarette bums
Going 80 to 25 and back, how can I ever survive this one

I don’t wanna wait
I don’t wanna wait to fix myself

Maybe I’m afraid to start again
Maybe disconnection is for the best
Maybe I haven’t had a drop of sunshine in days
You know that I have been avoiding your gaze

I don’t wanna wait
I don’t wanna wait to fix myself
Track Name: Petrichor
Sometimes enough is enough,
And I’m not one to judge
The system that’s been lived in
The bricks on your head,
Stacked upon your bed,
You thought all was a given
You wish you could say,
All that’s been said
All that has been said to you
I may not know
What’s been seen, what’s been shown
Exactly what’s been perceived by you

Words in a lecture aren’t what you need.
Not from me, not from anybody
But I’ll be here when your knees give way beneath
Please do know that there’s still a home
With its filled-in cracks and holes
Please know there are friends back here that love you so

Like a brother,
I may not have been the best
All our spats and my little pests
But in the end,
You have been the best
You have been the best

Although a calm has come, a storm still stirs
But it’s drenched with the scent of petrichor
To freshen up this devastated wasteland

Words in a lecture aren’t what you need,
Not from me not from anybody
But I’ll be here when you knees give way beneath
Please do know that there’s still a home
With its filled-in cracks and holes
Please know there are friends back here that love you so
